Key Topics

What You Will Learn

Knowledge Base

How to make a song into a marketable “product”. Sufficiently understanding topics ranging from arranging to mixing, from song structure to basic theory, from sound design to vocal coaching, from an idea to the final product.

Your Tools

The DAW is just one of your tools. Then there are all kinds of plugins and VSTi’s as well as physical outboard gear. But your most important tool of all are your ears.

Approach to production

Deciding on your production goals and the tools you’ll need to achieve them. Knowing how and when to start is as important as knowing when to finish. Responding to high profile music insider “tip sheets” which you may receive directly from world-class artists, their managements, labels or publishers.

Session Management

The producer’s job includes making sure all the collaborators are inspired and happy, and all the “moving parts” are well oiled with everyone involved working in a relaxed but focused atmosphere. This knowledge is invaluable whether working with multiple people or solo.

From rough to final mix

Learning how to track the progress of your mix, during all the stages of your mix can be an invaluable tool for all parties involved, right up until the final master.

A&R and beyond

With the mix ready and its market niche clearly identified, the producer needs to know what to do in order to get the final song out there. Is it a label deal or an independent release? The producer’s final role is to connect with label A&R, if it’s a label deal, or with influencers if it’s an indie release.
